Talbytech were founded in 2000 to provide automated audit solutions.

Way back then, paper surveys were being used by the Department of Housing for collection of property audit data which relied on pencil to fill in the dots intended to be read by (then!) state-of-the art computers.

Unfortunately, the computers could neither discriminate between altered dots or read handwritten notes - creating rework right through the supply chain. In some instances auditors were requried to revisit a site several months after completing an inspection to confirm details that had already been collected.

In partnership with Hi Tech Inspect, Talbytech evaluated available handheld solutions including Cassiopeia, Jornada and Palm Pilot and settled on the Palm to create an automated collection system which would audit the data as it was collected, improving efficiency and accuracy in the data collection process.

A custom database solution was written along with a GUI application for the Palm, and a 'conduit' was written to convert the binary databases which would read and write into XML as well as Microsoft Excel using the automation api.

The tools were written using c, c++ and shell scripts. A Windows installer was written in pascal, and user documentation was created as the development was completed.

Since then, Talbytech have moved from software development into project management and design. We provide consulting services, reviewing network architectures and management systems and can audit your network to provide designs including flow diagrams for compliance requirements.
